What social activities with coworkers do you enjoy?

Our Engineering Department (we're software developers) does stuff together regularly outside of (or during) work. Somethings we've done so far: Potlucks (at work) Picnics (with families) Paintball Indoor Go-cart Racing What are some things you've done with coworkers that you recommend?

  1. I work at a Marina on a Lake. So during the summer our boss lets the employees take patio boats out and on occasion weekend housboating trips.
  2. We go out for meals often and, as I work in a big firm, we have like charity days where we all have to dress up as something or wear a particular color which is sometimes fun, if not a little childish - which brings us all together I think. Perhaps similar activities to what your doing, family BBQs in summer, bowling, even camping trips (if your close and in a good location for that). If you find something that works for you all then you can do it again, but something team building yet fun, such as paintballing, is ideal for any work force in any area :)
  3. Bowling would be funny as hell! When my husband bowls he looks like he is flipping people off.. I pee my pants watching him bowl... It would make for great entertainment to share with my alcoholic work buddies!! Don't forget the bowling team Shirts! I want to be on the "We-Suck" team! WHOOO!!
  4. I live in Seattle so we go on camping adventures a lot and go kayaking too.. The owner of the company is also a photographer so we end up going to a lot of art galleries too..(a lot of times i feel obligated to do this..haha) i recommend drinking with your co-workers...thats when you see the true colors.
  5. NONE... when I am away from work I am through with those people... sure don't want to hang out with them. I don't like mixing business (work) with pleasure (personal time) it always bites you in the butt in the long run!
  6. JayJay is right, bowling was a riot. We also picked up a cheap grill for the occasional Friday picnic at work. We have about 30 employees, so a few dozen hot dogs and hamburgers was perfect. I think Paintball would be pretty cool too.
  7. Bowling would definitely be a good one. What about goofy-golf? That could be historic too... ** edit ** We have a few laser tag places here...that's always fun. We actually had that planned for the staff in our department but something came up and we never got to do it. ★
  8. Martin... You asked a question that is not about sex? I'm shocked! LOL Just giving you a hard time. I enjoy your questions, even if they're not about sex. :) I work in a small office (by "small", I mean my boss and I working out of a home office), so we interact a lot during the workday, being that his computer is just a few feet away from mine. But we don't do much outside work - every once in a while we'll do lunch, but that's about it. Some of my husband's office mates are buddies outside work, so they often do stuff together, but my husband is not that social; he prefers to just do things by himself or with me. A couple of times a year his office has a BBQ party where someone brings a grill and they BBQ in the parking lot all evening, drink beer and bring out the projector to run movies (projecting them on the wall of the building). Just recently a few of them did a fun thing - the other owner of the company (my husband is one of the owners) is a licensed pilot, so he borrowed a nice plane from one of his friends, and flew several people from the office to Catalina Island (we're in San Diego) for lunch. They had a lot of fun. I didn't go - for one, it was during the workday, and two, I don't like flying! lol
  9. I interact with my co workers during the day, but for the most part I'm pretty quiet. We don't do anything after work hours but go our own ways. I prefer it like that!
  10. None of the above! The only interaction I want with my co-workers outside the office is waving good bye to them while I'm leaving.... sometimes I use more than just one finger when I do it!
  11. Happy Hour. I think its about the only thing Ive done with co workers is drink. Wow....we're lushes.
  12. The co-workers that play together stay together. drinking is fun playing baseball beer pong pin the tie on the boss
  13. We go out for dinner, play different sports. BBQ in Summer time on the back yard of the office Bowling drinks on friday after work company organize a party for everyone to join
