Why do female friends/coworkers start to get their period on the same week?

Just a random curious questions. It makes no sense to me why and how that happens. Me and my coworkers all have our periods on the same week! wow! Good points. .that actually makes alot of sense

  1. yeah i dont know. my mom says that happens alot with girls in the same house, working together and stuff like that. weird.
  2. Idk either. Me and my mom usually have periods on the same day.. its creepy
  3. I dont really know...... i have noticed that if your around the same girls then you begin to get cycles at the same times and thats what docters say
  4. well biologicaly from when we were hairy ppl, females began to ovulate close to each other so the whole pack could be fertile at once and then all the males could hunt at once, in eesence if females are together for a while then their cycles begin to come closer to one naothers, its a mystery to us biologists righ tnow but it has been shown that this does indeed happen, so ur in the dark with the rest of us, srry!!
  5. I heard that when females ovulate hormones are given off that they are and so when you are close to other girls often they begin to ovulate in sync. The hormones are sort of a signal that it's time.
  6. Well there are only theories as to why this works. And most of the theories work on unobservable evidence, such as pheromones. So one theory is that it's a self defense technique back when we needed to to protect ourselves (humans) against the wild animals. The blood of a woman's period attracts predators. Say there was a group of people and the men needed to protect the women more closely when they menstruated. Slowly women began to synchronize when they have their period so that they all get it done and over with and can be protected all at once. Another theory is reproduction competition. Passing your genes along is very important in nature. If the woman next to you is showing that she can produce a child then you will start to as well so that the other woman doesn't get all the attention. So she's on her period, you're on your period. She's ovulating, you're ovulating. Make sense?
